Tamanu (foraha) oil, organic
Latin name: Calophyllum inophillum
Certificates: organic, Soil association certified
Extraction method: cold pressed, unrefined
The medicinal tamanu (lat. Calophyllum inophyllum) – an evergreen tree native to East Africa, the coasts of southern India, and the Polynesian islands in the Pacific Ocean. The powerful tamanu tree has beautiful leaves, blooms twice a year with fragrant white flowers, which produce round nuts. From their kernels, a highly valuable, thick and luxurious, rich green, nutty-scented oil is pressed, also called foraha oil, which has been used since ancient times for its beneficial properties and is currently highly valued in traditional medicine and cosmetics.
Properties:
Tamanu is most valued for its excellent skin regenerating properties. The oil is a rich green color, with a scent similar to butter and nutty ice cream. Tamanu oil helps soothe irritated, sunburned skin. The oil has moisturizing properties, helps restore and regenerate skin cells, and eliminate minor scars. This oil penetrates deeply into the skin, promoting the formation of new tissue and the renewal of healthy skin. Naturally, it has up to 20 SPF UV protection.
Use: Tamanu oil can be used neat on the skin when intensive scar removal or protection against stretch marks is needed, and it can also be mixed with other oils and essential oils.
For more convenient use of the oil, you can purchase a pump dispenser.
