Tonka bean absolute (Dipteryx odorata) – one of the most valuable perfumery ingredients, providing compositions with warmth, gourmand sweetness, and longevity. Its aroma is rich and complex: caramel-like, powdery sweet, with notes of freshly cut grass, warm herbs, vanilla, and soft tobacco.
It is produced from the seeds of tropical trees growing in Brazil, Guyana, Venezuela, and West Africa. The absolute is obtained through solvent extraction, preserving the full depth and natural properties of the aroma.
It blends beautifully with vanilla, leather, tobacco, white flowers (e.g., tuberose), and other warm scents. Used in perfume base notes, chypres, fougère compositions, lavender and amber combinations. Tonka bean absolute is a natural fragrance fixative – ensuring the scent lasts longer and remains harmonious.
The naturally occurring coumarin in the beans is completely safe for the skin, non-carcinogenic, non-phototoxic, and non-allergenic.
