Extraction method: steam distillation
Plant part: leaves, twigs, and flowers during flowering
Aroma: bright, light, green-floral, spicy, terpenic, with a soft, slightly sweet woody and floral undertone. Very close to the scent of neroli essential oil, so in perfumery it is sometimes used as a substitute for expensive neroli essential oil
Perfume note: top, heart
Blends well with: benzoin, bergamot, cardamom, cedar, clary sage, geranium, jasmine, labdanum, lavender, lemon balm, neroli, orange, rosemary, sandalwood, ylang ylang essential oils.
Citrus aurantium var. amara fruit tree gives us three luxurious aromatic substances:
- bitter orange essential oil, obtained from the fruit peel;
- petitgrain essential oil or absolute, obtained from the leaves of the plant;
- neroli essential oil, obtained from the orange blossoms.
