In perfumery, both jasminum grandiflorum and jasminum sambac are used. Jasminum grandiflorum - warm, creamy, animalic, musky, narcotic, sexual, feminine, while jasminum sambac - fruity, green, animalic, exotic, majestic, masculine, fresh.

Jasmine is one of the main ingredients in more than 80% of all quality perfumes and in one third of all masculine fragrances. The scent of jasmine is of unique composition, which cannot be recreated using only synthetic molecules, so at least a drop of natural jasmine absolute is used, which works miracles in perfumes!

Jasmine absolute contains about 250 scent molecules, among them indole, which gives perfumes passion, and methyl dihydrojasmonate, also known as the hedione molecule, which in Greek means "pleasure." This Firmenich-patented molecule is highly sought after in modern perfumery and has been featured in many perfumes since 1966 (Dior "Eau Sauvage").

In India, jasmine is harvested from March to September. There is a huge difference in scent depending on whether the jasmine is collected in spring or autumn. In spring, the scent is greener. In India, only 10% of jasmine flowers are used for fragrances, while as much as 90% of jasmine is used for decoration.
