Patchouli essential oil was especially loved by hippies in the 1960s. The "love generation" of the sixties was associated with all-encompassing free love and sexual liberation! At that time, patchouli oil was used to mask the smell of fragrant smoke and to give an earthy, rebellious and sexually attractive appeal. Unfortunately, such cultural associations with this oil persist to this day. Patchouli is considered an aphrodisiac.
The beauty of patchouli essential oil is revealed when used in small concentrations. Patchouli essential oil does not oxidise, but rather matures over time and becomes even more valuable, like a good wine.
