The frankincense tree originates from the Middle East. Incisions are made in the bark of this tree, through which the plant's sap flows. When exposed to air, it hardens into a solid resin over several weeks. This tree resin is distilled to obtain frankincense essential oil. The name of the plant comes from the French word "Franc", meaning "luxurious".
USAGE
Aromatherapeutic properties:
reduces stress, anxiety, improves mood;
improves sleep;
helps deepen breathing, safe for use by asthmatics.
Perfumery properties:
the scent of frankincense essential oil from different countries of origin can vary depending on the soil and weather conditions. Dry, volatile and bright citrus notes can be detected, as well as penetrating, resinous conifers with a soft peppery and balsamic undertone;
in fragrances it is mostly used as a base note and/or fixative, and its versatility is useful for creating both rich oriental and fresh citrus aromas;
Frankincense essential oil blends excellently in citrus colognes, "incense" type fragrances, and is an important ingredient in many oriental, amber, powdery and floral perfumes.
