Botanical name: Rosa damascena

Hydrolate - natural toner, cleanser, skin refresher.

Rose water - hydrolate – is distilled from Damask (lat. rosa damascena) rose petals. The steam passing through the petals is collected in a tube that extends through a cooling chamber. The water obtained by cooling the steam is rose water.

It is believed that the first rose oil and hydrolate were produced quite accidentally by the Persian physician and philosopher Avicenna while conducting alchemical experiments. And in the time of Emperor Nero, wealthy Romans bathed in rose-scented pools, and the emperors' pillows were scented with roses.

Both rose essential oil and rose water are still considered luxury products: to distill one liter of rose essential oil, as much as three tons of rose petals are needed. That is why rose essential oil is one of the most expensive oils.

Rose water (hydrolate) is suitable for all skin types, but is especially recommended for drier facial skin.

Cotton pads moistened with rose water can be placed on the eyelids - this refreshes the eyes and allows them to rest.
