Rosemary, depending on the growing location, accumulates different chemical substances, so they are usually divided into three main chemotypes:
Camphor chemotype - from Spain and the former Yugoslavia, accumulates a lot of borneol, used for massage of spasm-affected muscles, improves blood circulation;
Cineole chemotype - from Africa, accumulates a lot of cineole, their effect is similar to that of radiant eucalyptus essential oil;
Verbenone chemotype - from Southern France or the island of Corsica, accumulates a lot of verbenone and has skin-regenerating properties.
Rosemary essential oil is one of the most commonly counterfeited essential oils, by adding synthetic cineole or mixing with other, cheaper cineole-rich essential oils. So choose your supplier carefully. If only the name "Rosemary essential oil" is indicated on the bottle, without distinguishing the chemotype, such oil should be avoided.
