Botanical name: Simmondsia chinensis

Plant description: jojoba oil is obtained from the seeds of the plant known in Latin as Simmondsia chinensis. The plant is also called wild hazel or jojoba. It is a desert plant found in the deserts of South America. The plant's roots penetrate up to thirty meters deep to obtain moisture. It grows to a height of 2–3 m, the flowers are small, blooming in spring after the rainy winter season, the fruit is a triangular bean. Oil is pressed from the jojoba seeds, often called liquid wax, which differs in its properties from other vegetable oils but is highly valued in cosmetics.

Oil properties:

Jojoba oil is one of the most valuable vegetable oils (waxes) used in cosmetics. It is said that this oil is most similar to the oil secreted by human skin (sebum), so the skin accepts it as its own.

Jojoba oil is particularly beneficial for problematic skin, irritated, polluted, acne-affected skin, and also helps the skin cleanse itself without clogging pores. This oil does not irritate the eyes and does not cause allergies, so you can use it as an eye makeup remover.

Jojoba oil is a common ingredient in hair and scalp care products. Jojoba oil perfectly moisturizes the scalp, nourishes and smoothes hair.

Use:

• you can use it neat instead of cream or in mixtures with other vegetable oils. Apply to skin moistened with water or hydrolate, preferably in the evening;
• pour the oil onto a damp cotton pad and remove makeup;
• add a few drops of jojoba oil to hair conditioner for more nourished hair. Distributing a small amount on dry hair before washing will give the hair shine.
