How “Frostbjorn” was born

“Frostbjorn” is a name rooted in the North. Far from cities, where the cold is sharp, the winds are strong, and silence speaks louder than words.

For a period of time, we worked in northern Norway on radio communication networks. Our daily work took us into the mountains, sometimes to remote locations accessible only on foot or by helicopter to reach high-altitude communication points. Helicopters assisted us and also carried out missions to even more distant Svalbard—the Arctic archipelago inhabited by polar bears. Although we never had the chance to visit it, the image of that land—harsh, wild, and untamed—remained in our minds.

It was precisely the vision of Svalbard and the symbol of the polar bear that left a deep impression. This is how “Frostbjorn” was born—from the Norwegian words “frost” (cold) and “bjørn” (bear). The name reminds us of strength, calmness, and the purity of the North that will stay with us for a lifetime.
